2005 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big, bold rear-wheel-drive sedan. Hemi available. introductionfor some time chrysler has been threatening to re-invent the sedan back to the way it used to be. And now they've done it. The all-new 2005 chrysler 300 is the first big rear-wheel-drive sedan to come out of chrysler in many years. It replaces the front-wheel-drive lh line, which chrysler has used for years. Back then, there were engineering cases for front-wheel drive, including reduced manufacturing costs and more compact packaging. But new technology has made rear-wheel drive preferable again. Traction control, electronic stability programs, anti-lock brakes, and electronic brake distribution all improve the driver's ability to control the car. And one thing hasn't changed: rear-wheel drive is much better than front-wheel drive for managing horsepower. The 300c, which comes with a 340-horsepower hemi v8, is too powerful for front-wheel drive.  the 300 might be a case of back to the future, but there's little that's retro about it, except maybe the giant grille, with a shape like the 1958 300c. There have been some successful chrysler 300s along the way, but nothing to match the impact of the '55.  one of the advantages of front-wheel drive is traction in snow, but that too has been erased over the years. All-wheel drive will be available for drivers who want more traction.  the chrysler 300's styling is distinctive, and its interior is roomy, efficient and stylish. The instrument panel and switchgear are easy to read and operate. Pieces of mercedes-benz are slipping into chrysler cars nowadays, and the 300c features a mercedes-like steering wheel, leather under an arc of wood at the top.  while the 5. 7-liter hemi grabs the headlines, there are 2. 7- and 3. 5-liter v6 engines available. A standard chrysler 300 with a 2. 7-liter v6 can be had for the eye-popping low price of $23,595 including destination. It's a large, modern, stylish, comfortable car for a small price. The 340-horsepower hemi has to carry 4046 pounds, so it won't run with a corvette, but it is plenty fast, with a 0-60 time of 6. 3 seconds, according to chrysler. At the same time, the ride is smooth, solid and comfortable and the cabin is very quiet. With a base price less than $33,000, that's a killer car. lineupthere are three engines available: a 2. 7-liter v6, a 3. 5-liter v6, and the 5. 7-liter v8 hemi. The base chrysler 300 22,970) comes with a 2. 7-liter double-overhead-cam v6 engine making 190 horsepower and 190 feet-pounds of torque, and getting 21/28 epa miles per gallon. It gets 17/25 mpg on 89 octane recommended (87 acceptable). It also has bigger and more powerful front brakes, because the engine is some 300 pounds heavier than the v6 and the car is considerably faster. The hemi engine was brutally tested by chrysler engineers, and is covered by chrysler's 7-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty.  options include front and rear curtain airbags, boston acoustics premium sound system, air filtration, ultrasonic rear object detection, self-sealing tires, hands-free cellphone capability, adjustable pedals, premium sound system, gps navigation system, sirius satellite radio, sunroof, walnut interior accents and xenon high-intensity headlamps. walkaroundthe new chrysler is clearly bold and, we would argue, cool. But mostly the styling is uncompromising and makes no apologies. Rear-wheel-drive architecture allowed this whole new shape. The wheelwell cutouts, wrapping around five-spoke 17-inch or 10-spoke 18-inch wheels, are striking. The wheelbase is very long but the overhangs are short, offering a visual sense of power. The roof rakes thickly down to a short deck, and the sides are like large slabs. The long hood glides forward and drops off a cliff whose face is the massive grille, so strong it dictates the car's lines. interiorthe interior of the chrysler 300 is marked by spacious silence. Chrysler engineers have been reducing interior and wind noise with all their new vehicles, so it's not surprising that the flagship sedan should get the treatment. Chrysler has its own $36 million aero-acoustic wind tunnel, and they've been trying to get their money's worth out of it.  it's a very clean cockpit. We felt blessed not to have to play games with the controls and switchgear to get them to function. Because the windshield rake is relatively modest, visibility forward is enhanced over that very long hood. Visibility out the rear is also excellent, without much intrusion from the roofline.  the cabin is roomy, thanks largely to the efficient shape of the exterior: the chassis is pushed out to the wheels, and the wheelbase is long, leaving 106. 6 cubic feet (sae standard) inside. A safety innovation can be found in the trunk. The well in the cargo floor, holding the spare tire, is built at an angle, so if the 300 is crashed into from the rear, the tire will rotate upward allowing the frame structure to deform as designed. driving impressionthe 300c feels as solid as it looks, having inherited significant mechanicals from its parent company, mercedes-benz. From a handling standpoint, the 300 is heavily and positively influenced by a design borrowed from the mercedes e-class: five-link rear suspension mounted to a subframe, and the short-arm/long-arm front suspension, modified for the 300's longer wheelbase, wider track and bigger wheels.  the ride in the 300c is very smooth and solid without any weakness that we could find in a half day of hard driving, and we wouldn't change a thing. The 120-inch wheelbase is longer even than that in the chrysler 300s from the 1950s, but the overall length is not. Nor is it longer than the front-wheel-drive 04 chrysler it replaces. Result: great ride, reasonable parking.  and the cornering is good enough that higher-performance tires should be made available. The 300c comes with continental all-season tires, p225/60r18, but they squeal early and don't do justice to the chassis. Chrysler engineers have gotten the rack-and-pinion steering right; it's just the right amount of weighty, and provides a secure feeling. 2010 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It has great styling, impressive handling and, with the available hemi v8 of 360 horsepower, pavement-eating performance. Rear-wheel drive adds to the pleasure and excitement of driving this big sedan, and that's partly why luxury sedans and sports cars continue to use it. The 300's traction and stability electronics are well sorted and effective, delivering good all-season performance, and all-wheel drive is an option for those who want enhanced traction for dealing with slippery conditions. They're also responsive for large cars. Inside and out, this car makes no apologies. It won't be mistaken for any other sedan the road. It can be trimmed with chrome, mono-chrome and various wheels to look stately and elegant or downright intimidating.  the chrysler 300 delivers impressive value, but emphasizing the cost/benefit ratio may minimize its other strengths. The 300 is a highly appealing car, and it has set a benchmark for the industry.  long-wheelbase models are also available. It's equipped with cloth upholstery, power driver's seat, cruise control, fog lamps, and chrome-clad aluminum wheels. The limited awd 37,415) is identically equipped, except that it has the five-speed automatic. Options for the limited include boston acoustic speakers 595), media center 900), and california walnut real wood trim 560).  the 300c 38,010) features the 5. 7-liter overhead-valve hemi v8 delivering 360 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque and fitted with the five-speed automatic. It also has a power tilt/telescoping steering column; 160-mph speedometer; remote starting; memory for driver's seat, exterior mirrors, steering column tilt/telescope, and power adjustable pedals; boston acoustic sound system with 276 watts; performance brakes; dual exhaust; and rain-sensing wipers. The 300c awd 40,050) is equipped the same. Options for the 300c include adaptive cruise control 595), and the luxury equipment group ii 2,190), which includes the adaptive cruise control, exterior mirrors with supplemental turn signals, heated rear seats, boston acoustics sound with seven speakers and 368-watt amplifier, and the california walnut real wood trim.  the srt8 44,865) features a 425-hp, 6. 1-liter hemi v8 with loads of performance tweaks, 20-inch wheels, and unique design features. Options for the srt8 include a 13-speaker kicker srt audio system 685), and srt option group ii, which includes uconnect navigation and uconnect phone. Included as standard equipment with the srt8 is the srt track experience, a one-day driving experience conducted at various race tracks with instruction from the richard petty racing school.  safety features include multi-stage front airbags and head-curtain side airbags. Other safety-related options include rear obstacle detection, high-intensity discharge headlamps, and all-wheel drive.  the w. A handful of detractors claim the 300's styling, particularly its bentley-esque front end, is derivative, but we think that's a superficial view. But it also redefined what a detroit sedan can be.  with its rear-wheel-drive architecture, the chrysler 300 might be a case of back to the future. Yet there's little about it that's retro, except maybe the giant grille, which clearly draws on 300s from the past. The first chrysler 300 was introduced in 1955. It was called the c300 and its engine had hemispherical combustion chambers earning the hemi nickname. Its styling makes no apologies. The wheelwell cutouts, wrapping around rims up to 20 inches in diameter, are striking. The wheelbase is long but the overhangs are short, offering a visual sense of power. These cast a useful halo of light on the ground beneath the doors when the 300 is unlocked with the remote key fob. Its unique features include body-color front and rear bumper inserts, mirrors and door handles. The modifications are more than aesthetic: there are ducts to direct air flow to cool the brakes, while a specially designed rear spoiler increases rear downforce by 39 percent, helping keep the rear tires firmly planted at high speed without increasing drag. Yet the coolest thing about the srt8 might be its 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and high-performance tires, which maximize that visual impression of power.   the executive series package, or long-wheelbase version, adds six inches to the standard wheelbase, all behind the front doors, and provides 46 inches of rear legroom inside. Outside, it gives the 300 a stately, limo-like look. interiorthe stylish theme set by the chrysler 300 body carries through inside, though the style in the cabin is even more clearly defined by purpose. There's a definite form-follows-function approach, with little superfluous decoration.  the chrysler 300 was among the first to adapt an increasingly popular high seating position, with seats that are higher than those in a typical sedan. This blueprint was perhaps a response to the booming popularity of sport-util. Anti-lock Brakes✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Aluminum Wheels

2005 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Top-down fun or wagon-like practicality in a gangstermobile. introductionchrysler pt cruiser combines the retro look of a late-'30s american sedan with modern performance, efficiency and features. The pt cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for its sprightly performance. The cruiser's taller body adds not only a unique look, but also extra room for people and cargo.  its interior volume and versatility compares well to a small suv. Yet the pt cruiser is shorter in length than a neon, making it easy to park. And it's easy on gas.  now in its fifth year, with annual sales of more than 100,000, the cruiser is a familiar sight, but people are still intrigued by it. For starters, it's difficult to define within existing automotive marketing segments, leading chrysler to call the pt cruiser too cool to categorize. That fire comes in the form of 220 horsepower in the gt; a more affordable 180-horsepower turbo is also available.  if there's anything cooler than the standard pt cruiser, it's the pt cruiser convertible. The base convertible 19,405) is similarly equipped. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags and most of the limited's luxury goodies. Leather sport seats and a power moonroof are also standard. The gt convertible 27,830) comes with all the limited and gt sedan goodies, except that its 17-inch wheels are painted rather than plated. The gt gets its chrome on its grille (optional on gt and limited sedans).  optional on both convertible models is an infinity premium sound system with an eight-channel amplifier and 368 watts peak power. Sirius satellite radio is optional 195, including a one-year subscribtion) on all but base models. Gps navigation 1100) is available on limited and gt; so is uconnect hands-free, in-vehicle communications 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Limited sedans can be ordered with plastic woodgrain exterior accents 895) for the vintage town & country look. Many of the standard features on higher-line models are also available as options on the less expensive models.  the truly limited edition (with production capped at 1,700 units) pt dream cruiser series 4 convertible 30,085) features deep lava red paint, a maroon cloth convertible top, chrome grille accents and light pearl beige leather-upholstered performance seats. Seventeen-inch wheels. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all there is to the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive.  by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon. Yet with 63 inches from the pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser sedan is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the gt sedan is distinguished from the other models by its chromed wheels, larger air intakes, and a spoiler on its liftgate. The spoiler 150) is optional on the limited.  the design of the convertible is quite a bit different from that of the sedan. The convertible looks shorter than the sedan, but isn't; maybe it's the single long door on each side that creates this illusion. It's certainly lower, by almost 3 inches. Closer examination reveals that the windshield is raked more radically and uses a different a-pillar design. With the top up, the convertible looks like a custom chopped-top hot rod. Pretty cool.  with its top down, the pt cruiser convertible's high tail and integrated sport bar remind us of the old volkswagen cabrio. But where the vw's side windows sealed against its symbolic roll bar (almost as on a prewar convertible sedan), the chrysler's windows seal against each other for a more modern convertible profile. Its slightly narrower and color-keyed sport bar sits behind the windows, inside the car, and is aerodynamically designed to minimize wind noise. A nice boot is provided that dresses up the appearance with the top down. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 120. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The standard stereo sounds tinny; we haven't spent much time with the new infinity system. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down.  a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The front seats in the three lower-line models have a reasonable amount of bolstering to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side. The gt also features a leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-silver spokes, and bright accents on the pedals.  roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. The sedan's 121. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car, though it certainly doesn't have the ambience of those cars. Much of that space is a function of the cruiser's height. The roof rises toward the rear like on a chopped-top hot r.

2006 chrysler town & country review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Luxury and innovated seating. introductionthe chrysler town & country is a luxurious minivan with an innovative seating design that adds greatly to its versatility. The town & country combines the practical features of the dodge caravan with a higher level of equipment and style. A choice of models is available, ranging from a short-wheelbase voyager replacement to the leather-upholstered limited, but all are powered by smooth, responsive v6 engines and all ride smoothly and quietly.  the flagship town & country limited is in many ways a luxury vehicle, and it is in many ways a very intelligent choice of vehicle. The limited model comes loaded with leather upholstery, gps navigation, dual power sliding doors, and a power rear liftgate. Dvd entertainment, hands-free communication and other convenience features are available by checking options boxes.  standard in all but the base model is a system of second- and third-row seats called stow'n go that fold flush with the floor, perfectly flat, opening up more than 160 cubic feet of cargo space. Convenience and safety features abound in the town & country cabin. Storage bins and cargo nets assist with carrying groceries. The town & country is certainly a more sensible choice than a sport-utility for moving people around. Like all modern minivans, the town & country is built on a long wheelbase (119. 3 inches, to be exact). Upholstery is cloth. The clever stow 'n go seats are not included, however, and the second-row seat is a bench. Think of it as the long-wheelbase voyager. Its raked windshield, rising roofline and beltline, and fast d-pillars framing canted rear windows help it slip through the air. Pronounced wheel arches complement sharp character lines that flank the integrated grille. The rear end is designed to make town & country look wider and not as tall as it really is. Huge taillamps feature clear red lenses and jewel-like reflectors. Press the appropriate button on the remote transmitter twice and the door slides open; press it twice again and it slides closed and seals. Pulling on the outside lever opens the power door manually, with just slightly more effort than opening a regular manual door. Once inside, the power sliding door can be opened and closed by pressing a button conveniently located for second-row passengers. That may seem far too fussy for those in a hurry to get out (and almost all passengers are almost always in a hurry to get out), so the door can be opened manually just like any sliding minivan door. A safety lock switch hidden on the trailing edge of the door can be engaged to prevent a child from opening the sliding door from inside.  the base and lx come with manually operated sliding doors, which are still easy to operate, smoothly gliding open and closed with the pull of a nicely designed lever. The outside door handles are comfortable, easy to operate and well designed; they impart a feeling of quality in appearance and operation. All door handles should be this good on all vehicles, but they are not.  the available power rear liftgate makes loading groceries and other cargo easier. Press a button on the remote control and the liftgate opens or closes automatically. It provides seating for up to seven people. And each seat, including the third-row seats, is roomy and comfortable, something that cannot be said about any sport-utility vehicle. The material is soft and appears durable. Attractive sycamore wood and satin-silver trim warm the cabin.  chrysler's stow 'n go is the most convenient seating system on the market. The second and third rows of seats fold flat into the floor leaving a perfectly flat platform for cargo. Folding and unfolding the seats is a quick three-step process. Pull one strap to drop the seatback, then pull two other straps to tuck it into the floor, completely out of sight. Very few seats fold perfectly flat and no one else (except dodge) has a second row that does this. It's a flexible system as well. The third row is split, and either or both of the second-row captain's chairs can be stowed. Once back there, she said the seating was very comfortable. She then put on her headphones and that was the last we heard from her.  the low floor makes getting in and out through the side doors easy. Caesar the 160-pound mastiff req.
